The Automation Engineer will help to shape the future of automated assembly of our eyewear. The candidate will be a hands-on problem solver and self-starter who takes pride in and has a successful track-record of designing, building and implementing automated assembly systems. The Automation Engineer will be involved in all the phases of the projects including initial planning, detailed design, construction, commissioning and release.



  • Create automation and machine design requirements including 3D drawing design,2D drawings, safety features, and sourcing
  • Preparation of cost estimates and written technical proposals
  • Design automation system integrating assembly stations, 6 axis handling devices and conveyance devices
  • Detail control schemes with wiring and system drawings for automation projects
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies and proactively recommend revisions and/or improvements
  • Help other teams succeed through easy-to-use tooling, monitoring, and automation that you create
  • Engage in project planning to identify automation opportunities
  • Preparation of cost estimates and written technical proposals
  • Generate appropriate documentation specifying equipment requirements, verifying and validating its performance, and detailing instructions for operation, maintenance and repair
  • Improve standards for assembly by working with engineering professionals to promote defect-free processes
  • Interact cross functionally from concept through test runs through the released manufacturing process



  • BS Degree in Engineering
  • 3+ years prior experience
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (CREO and SOLIDWORKS preferred)
  • Experience with working in team
  • Understand of timeliness, budget, quality and effectiveness KPIs
  • 6-Axis robots automation systems designing
  • Experience in the start-up and scale-up of high volume production, with an emphasis on ergonomic design, yield improvement, labor and cost reduction
  • Experience with electromechanical systems
  • Experience in automating assembly processes
  • Excellent conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks toward completion targets under minimal supervision
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to interface effectively with engineering, manufacturing and production personnel
  • Understanding of Sensors, Robotics, Complex Mechanical designs and various controls for automated systems
  • Project management strength with ability to create technical documentation



  • Collaborative Robots cell design experience
  • Consumer Eyewear industry experience
  • Lean and/or SPC Training
  • Robot/PLC Programming experience
