GENERAL FUNCTION

The Senior Design Engineer is an integral member of the team that creates and delivers brand-relevant technologies to the Product Roadmap, as it relates to eyewear frames, goggles, and helmets. R&D’s core role is innovation through timely creation of products with meaningful consumer benefits.  A technical expert, the Sr. Engineer leverages experience and knowledge to drive project level decision-making in cross functional peer groups. 

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as a seasoned professional within the R&D team, driving project progress through critical thinking, conceptualization and expert execution
  • Functions as a senior member within a cross-functional team
  • Responsible for mechanical and structural engineering of new products (eyewear frames, goggles, and/or helmets)
  • Develops new technologies, in line with feature, performance and cost specifications
  • Visions and/or executes improvements to legacy products
  • Participates in project planning of engineering tasks and estimating timelines
  • Tests performance improvements through application of the scientific method
  • Working awareness is project level, with direct execution of the underlying tasks
  • Tracks and communicates project status to applicable cross functional teams
  • Executes high level engineering requiring very little directional supervision
  • Travel requirement, up to 25%, domestic and international 

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Engineering or similar Engineering degree
  • 5+yrs engineering experience
  • CAD modeling, packaging and assembly experience
  • Familiarity with polymers, plastics processing and injection molding
  • Rapid prototyping/additive manufacturing methods and design
  • Experience conducting physical testing and sample evaluation
  • Hands-on fabrication of prototypes for testing and user feedback
  • Computer skills including Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Word
  • Imaginative outside the box thinker with a history of problem solving
  • Simple and Fast approach to innovating, fail fast- learn faster
  • Technical leadership and strong collaboration in cross functional teams
  • Entrepreneurial spirit through progression and improvement
  • Strong organizational, people, verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-starter with high attention to detail
  • Travel requirement, up to 25%, domestic and international 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MS in Engineering or similar
  • Expertise in injection molded part design
  • Experience in consumer products industry
  • Proficiency in Creo parametric modeling
  • Packaging and manipulation of complex assemblies
  • Kinematic and mechanical assembly manipulation
  • FEA and moldflow simulation
  • Familiarity with MIM, die casting, forging and other metal forming technologie
  • Experience conducting physical testing and sample evaluation
  • Field testing with end-users in various environments
  • Passion for and participation in our core sports
  • Experience in constumer goods, eyewear, and/or helmets
