The APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) Sr Manager leads Oakley’s APQP Quality Program related to eyewear New Product Introduction and Added Color. The main objective of the team is to minimize the risk of product failures both in the manufacturing process and at the end-user through use of continuous improvement, data analysis, and effective use of lessons learned. The APQP Sr Manager will lead, mentor  team in order to engage both Development Engineering group and the Manufacturing team in order to effectively bring new products to market with respect of timing and performance expectation.



  • Design and implement strategic vision to evolve the methodology for an effective risk assessment of Product design and Process definition.
  • Demonstrate capability of influence other departments in shaping and improving the Development flow of new releases with high priority to risk mitigation and timely release.
  • Drives team to Work side-by-side with Design and Project Engineering towards the development of new eyewear models influencing and challenging the status quo of existing procedures to meet both the expected quality requirements and the expected development timelines
  • Define and execute strategic initiatives to develop direct report
  • Engages the team to leverage manufacturing process knowledge and provide actionable feedback to the Design Engineering team on risk assessment of new models
  • Effectively presents information to the Manufacturing teams on the expected quality performance of new model releases
  • Empowers and mentor team to Lead the analysis of product failures using systematic root cause analysis, problem solving techniques, and designed experiments
  • Master and mentor, the usage of risk reduction tools such as FMEA and prototype testing at the appropriate project checkpoints during the New Product Development process
  • Is an expert of regulatory requirements applicable to the eyewear industry and drive adherence to those requirements
  • Lead to Coordinate international teams for procedural alignment across businesses
  • Lead and coach how to manage multiple projects and the proper usage of DMAIC projects for process or product improvements
  • Responsible for design, ownership and reporting of yield related KPIs



  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in Quality or Engineering Development
  • 2+ Experience leading in product development and exposure to phase and gates models to drive controlled release to market
  • 2+ years of management/leadership experience
  • Demonstrated Cross-functional teamwork to solve complex problems and recommend improvements (R&D, IDZ, NPI, Finance, Production, Maintenance, Assembly, Customer)
  • Exceptional proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Experience leading teams in a high volume, fast-paced and multiple shift environment
  • Proven track record of driving multiple projects with cross functional interactions



  • Master’s degree preferred
  • ASQ Certifications
  • Green Belt/Black belt certifications
  • PMP certification
  • Lean Manufacturing and DFM exposure
