GENERAL FUNCTION

The R&D Tech serves as a member of the Advanced Product Development team that delivers valued resources and execution to all levels of projects from start to finish. This position is a technical expert and leverages experience and knowledge to help drive project level decision-making in cross functional peer groups.

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide support for remote and onsite employees
  • Create prototype fixtures and necessary tooling for prototype builds
  • Assist with necessary prototype testing
  • Work with model shop to produce necessary engineering prototypes
  • Procure prototype material from suppliers and vendors
  • Conducts and provides project related research such as material, technologies etc.
  • Works with engineers to ensure all designs have proper fit and can meet defined technical requirements
  • Support design engineering solutions that serve as a vision for new product features
  • Requests and maintains all technical/dimensional information for each product’s construction and composition
  • Maintains product development library, test, and design iteration data
  • Assists with the communication and coordination of new product introduction and implementation
  • Works on multiple projects and brands simultaneously through ideation and physical samples
  • Support development of product presentations
  • Prepares agendas and recaps for internal and external product meetings
  • Other duties as needed

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or greater
  • 2+ years of experience within a product development setting
  • Onsite requirement
  • CAD related experience such as Creo, SolidWorks
  • Basic understanding of physics and critical thinking
  • Basic use of shop tools and equipment
  • Basic computer skills and use of software such as MS Office, Adobe etc.
  • Strong project management abilities, including on-time delivery
  • Technical knowledge of prototyping, manufacturing, and assembly processes as it relates to injection molded products
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to perform under pressure, and demonstrated leadership skills
  • Strong communication skills, verbal, visual (such as sketching) and written
  • Must be self-motivated and able to manage multiple parallel-path projects
  • Excellent at creating and maintaining cross-functional working relationships
  • Ability to travel up to 30%, domestic and international

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
  • Knowledge of the eyewear, fashion, and/or sports performance product industry
  • Interest in Oakley related action sports
