GENERAL FUNCTION 

The Sr. Manager of New Product Introductions (NPI) is at the heart of the Oakley Brand and is responsible for introducing new products that balance commercial needs with brand strategy and innovation. This role owns the global product line plan for Sunglasses and partners closely with cross-functional partners to produce exceptional results: products that reflect the brand and allow consumers to reach new levels.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Defines and manages the global line plan to balance commercial needs with brand strategy and innovation
  • Translates category vision into an annual line plan and product briefs
  • Provides thoughtful segmentation by consumer, distribution, geography, and price to ensure category goals are achieved in a sustainable way
  • Aligns key products to annual Creative/Brand narratives to support key stories and priorities
  • Collaborates with teams on projects through the development process
  • Works with leaders in developing seasonal/annual product strategies and product priorities
  • Understands product trends within each market and helps align local design and product needs with global objectives and brand positioning
  • Creates compelling storytelling for consumers via strong product acumen and deep product experience
  • Creates meaningful product briefs that define key requirements or features required in each release
  • Defines product need, consumer focus, volume expectations, price, and margin requirements for every new model
  • Presents line plan to leaders to ensure the plan reflects company vision
  • Ensures technical superiority and product quality/integrity of all products within scope
  • Tracks costs, margin, pricing, forecast and performance for respective categories
  • Develops products that meet or exceed pre-determined gross-margin targets
  • Works with cross functional partners to develop meaningful product forecasts, manages global inventory levels, and reconciles forecasts to overall budget
  • Manages line plan development against the development calendar and communicates changes to development teams to ensure current and accurate of information
  • Ensures accurate and complete product information in the data management system (PLM) and acts as proprietor of product analysis and historical information
  • Works closely with Marketing to align on target consumers, athletes, technical highlights and competitive positioning
  • Identifies sales tools and training required to communicate and differentiate product stories
  • Attends sales meetings and trade shows to communicate product stories and consolidate feedback

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 8+ years exp. in product dev., engineering or strategy/consulting
  • Experience leading complex projects
  • Able to conduct analysis from consumer, industry, and competitor research
  • Able to manage high level strategy and in-depth analyses
  • Able to navigate complex global organization and influence at all levels
  • Superior interpersonal skills
  • Positive attitude and high energy
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and results-oriented environment
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
