GENERAL FUNCTION

The Strategic Partner Director – Acccount Management provides leadership and development for a team of account managers who are accountable for developing, growing and retaining key strategic partnerships. The Director champions complex, multi-facited programs and solutions internally and externally, ensuring capabilities and partnerships evolve with partners.  The Director leads effective business development and account management strategies to achieve annual membership, retention, revenue and profitability goals.

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads strategy and directs team in developing and maintaining relationships within health plan partners at multiple levels and across commercial and government segments.
  • Builds strategic business plans focused on retention, growing business and achieving financial targets. Negotiates contract terms to solidify desired business goals.
  • Successfully represents client needs within internal organization to achieve partner goals and implement client requests. Serves as expediter for issues requiring support.
  • Oversees ongoing reporting around operational and financial performance.
  • Ensures high level of business retention and penetration across book of business.
  • Manages multi-million dollar book of business for Fortune 1000 companies.
  • Informs senior leadership of market and competitive trends that impact assigned business.
  • Directly manages and supports career development for a team of strategic partner account managers.
  • Supports account management goals by sharing ideas and supporting cross-functional initiatives.
  • Directs projects or activities across teams to foster collaboration and drive activities to closure.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Previous experience leading a sales or account management team
  • 10+ years industry related field
  • Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Executive presence
  • Proven leadership, coaching & team development
  • Demonstrated successful results and accomplishments in account management based role
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite of products
  • Experience in the health insurance field with exposure to group benefits
  • Experience in building and negotiating contract terms

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree
  • 5+ years in insurance industry sales and/or account management (ancillary products)
  • Insurance background – preferably health, dental or vision
