GENERAL FUNCTION

The Director of Compliance will serve as the compliance officer for their designated line of business; Commercial or Government. In partnership with the Chief Compliance Officer, this position will define the compliance program structure, educational requirements, reporting, response and correction procedures, and compliance expectations for all EyeMed employees and contractors. The Director will monitor and report the status of compliance program effectiveness to the Chief Compliance Officer, and senior leadership. This position provides oversight and management of compliance efforts and programs, including assessment and mitigation of compliance risks. The Director also provides consultation to internal staff and leadership.

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of an effective compliance program for all business activities for their line of business
  • Identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk, develops and implements corrective action plans for resolution, and provides general guidance on how to mitigate risk in the future
  • Partners with functional areas, performs robust compliance oversight, and ensures appropriate compliance controls, training, and remediation of findings associated with activities for identified business activities
  • Works and collaborates effectively with other teams within the Compliance Department, as well as internal stakeholders and their teams
  • Monitors the external environment to ensure the implementation of best practices to appropriately mitigate risk, and maintain updated understanding of evolving requirements
  • Works closely with management to remove barriers to implementation and integrates compliance into business plans, scorecards, metrics, and processes
  • Acts as the Compliance point person for client audits and oversees team responsible for receipt, tracking, and close-out all client audits
  • Provides guidance on the audit process, related rules and expectations, logistics and audit protocols to the operational areas undergoing the audit
  • Collaborates with other areas of the business to direct compliance issues to appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution
  • Identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk, develops and implements corrective action plans for resolution, and provides general guidance on how to mitigate risk in the future
  • Conducts regular employee discussions, monitors employee performance, provides developmental coaching and conducts performance reviews
  • Conducts internal reviews, risk assessments, monitoring and auditing to ensure that compliance policies and procedures function as intended and identifies potential compliance risks and remediates where necessary

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years demonstrated successful experience working with administrative, policy, legal, audit, regulatory compliance and/or operational aspects of managed care plans in compliance-focused roles
  • 5+ years of experience managing people
  • 7+ years of experience in regulatory auditing

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience at commercial/government programs insurance plans, including significant Managed Care Organization experience
  • 7+ years of experience managing people
