GENERAL FUNCTION

The National Sales Director analyzes and consults with Fortune 500 companies on their benefit programs with the target on vision benefits. The Director engages employers and consultants in an assigned territory to sell vision benefits. The Director focuses on direct marketing and prospecting to both prospects and consultants. 

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts structured consistent outreach to named list of large commercial prospects
  • Conducts strategic benefit discussions with C-suite level prospects
  • Cultivates and manages consultant relationships in territory
  • Works with other sales and account management territories to identify and capitalize on opportunities within the region
  • Mentors/coaches colleagues
  • Serves as a thought leader within the sales organization
  • Leads and executes the sales process within internal departments (network, finance, marketing, operations) and external contacts through sales process
  • Develops overall strategy and customized solutions for each major prospect
  • Develops territory strategy to meet plan objectives
  • Fosters internal relationships to effectively deliver sales and satisfied new customers
  • Develops relationships through conferences and prospecting
  • Executes marketing plan to engage prospects
  • Continuously develops the opportunities in territory to meet/exceed sales goal.
  • Builds relationships internally
  • Confidently presents to C-Suite, brokers, and large group settings
  • Effectively negotiates contracts on behalf of the organization
  • Collaborates with Account management peers to retain and grow business 

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years overall sales experience with demonstrated success
  • Previous benefits sales experience
  • Business to business sales experience
  • Strong goal-driven performer with consistent achievement of sales goals
  • Strong presentation skills and executive presence
  • Creative, outgoing leader
  • Experience in building and negotiating contract terms
  • Proven track record building sales and financial targets
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite of products
  • Ability to travel 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree
  • Sales leadership experience
  • Demonstrated success in project management or liaison role
  • Experience leading large group sales
