The Senior Manager EDI will play a critical role within the Business Data Solutions team to maintain and implement EyeMed’s healthcare EDI applications.  The role will lead the department to implement compliant EDI transactions for exchanging data with our partners.  This includes managing the department’s IT initiatives and the prioritization of items against other organizational needs.  The Senior Manager will monitor the EDI rejection process ensuring the team resolves the rejections and meets all client performance guarantee timing.  The Senior Manager will work cross-functionally to ensure EyeMed’s processes deliver outstanding first pass acceptance rates.  The Senior Manager will identify, recommend and implement process improvements in support of the EDI system based on observation, monitoring and external inquiries regarding EDI issues.



  • Lead the EDI team to implement compliant EDI transactions for exchanging data with new clients and states
  • Identifies, recommends and implements process improvements in support of the EDI system
  • Manages the EDI team’s IT initiatives and the prioritization of items against other organizational needs.
  • Lead the EDI team to research and analyze Encounter Edits or Rejections to identify trends and root cause
  • Monitor the EDI rejection process, ensuring rejections are resolved and meets all client performance guarantee timing
  • Manage escalated client EDI issues to resolution
  • Collaborate with other departments to research, identify and correct data errors to minimize ongoing rejection risk
  • Maintain compliance to all company and regulatory policies
  • Lead the team to provide support during and after implementation for HIPAA claims-based EDI transactions
  • Respond to inquiries regarding EDI issues with encounter claims and trading partner activities
  • Ensures all outbound 837 transactions return appropriate responses (999, 277CA, custom)
  • Develop standard and custom testing plans to ensure compliance with requirements
  • Develop and execute test scripts related to EDI transactions
  • Conducts QA and testing on EDI applications
  • Management of catalog of EDI Companion Guides such as 837, 999, 277CA, 835
  • Maintain detailed documentation and process flow of all EDI processes
  • Support Account Management group with EDI related issues
  • Request and maintain SFTP connections and rules including resolving transmission problems with partners.



  • High degree of business and technical knowledge with significant practical experience in HIPAA X12 EDI Transactions
  • 5+ years HIPAA X12 EDI Transactions experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Expert in EDI mapping for 837, 999, 277CA, 835
  • Data analysis and troubleshooting
  • SQL Developer- build and execute select statements
  • Data testing
  • Requirements definition and management
  • Basic Project management
