GENERAL FUNCTION

Responsible for the design of graphic and patterns for Costa del Mar and Oakley Apparel business in North America (USA and Canada). Contribute to the development and growth initiatives for both brands (Oakley and Costa del Mar) across all sport verticals, product categories and channels of trade with clear consumer segmentation approach. The role will be tasked interacting with the Costa and Oakley Product and Brand teams to understand the brand and its targeted core customers.  This position will be responsible for creating and managing sketches for new collections including close collaboration with product developers, customers, and product managers.

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to perform designs through drawing, sketching, typography, spacing, scale, ideation, color separation, and concept
  • Ability to design or illustrate logo, print/pattern, and color theory development
  • Self-starter that can ensure on time deliverables and timelines across global and/or local team processes
  • Ability to present creative concepts and execution ideas with product leaders both internally and externally including account facing meetings
  • Cleary interpret project concepts through prototypes and comps
  • Deliver cutting edge creative work
  • Work with cross functional teams to ensure continuity for categories and projects
  • Create content that can be used for multiple function and channels like print, Digital, etc.
  • Support creation of commercial opportunities; ensuring alignment with global brand direction.
  • Gather and collect consumer insights to inspire future designs
  • Receptive to account feedback and trends for future design opportunities.
  • Coordinate with cross functional support teams to insure pro-active readiness for seasonal launches
  • Ability to translate briefs and collaborate plans to execute commercially driven creative concepts
  • Establish market research templates for feedback on trends to the global product team across the key verticals for each channel and develop sales/merchant market tours to gain key customer feedback across US and Canada.
  • Travel internationally (Milan HQ)/domestically to participate in line development and collection planning and visit top accounts, events and tradeshows.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in design or related field
  • 2+ years direct relevant work experience in apparel graphic design
  • Solid foundation for use of textures, patterns, and color theory,
  • Strong visual presentation of work and layout a must
  • Strong understanding of apparel and product creation process
  • Strong understanding of screen printing, embroidery, appliqué, trims.
  • Knowledge of fabrications and silhouettes
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects
  • Must be computer literate within Adobe Suite, Keynote, Illustrator, Photoshop and all Microsoft Office package products
  • Strong knowledge and Passion for Sports and Performance Apparel
  • Passion for creative storytelling
