The EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) Customer Compliance Specialist assumes responsibility for on-boarding new accounts, analyzing and implementing service changes with active accounts, identifying and resolving service issues and maintaining accurate documentation of existing capabilities and process flows. Maintains involvement with the IT team for EDI transactions and maps, the sales team for compliance requirements and the operation team for distribution center work flows.


  • Maintains documentation on current EDI and customer compliance requirements and capabilities, communicating with internal and external users as required.
  • Facilitates the successful on-boarding of new EDI and non-EDI accounts.
  • Determines account requirements and potential service gaps by reviewing compliance manuals, EDI maps, routing guides and other media as required.
  • Partners with internal business groups to plan, develop, test implement and document all processes required by the new accounts.
  • Coordinates with internal and external business groups to secure compliance waivers from the accounts as needed while communicating potential risks for non-compliance.
  • Reviews, analyzes and coordinates implementation for service modifications (EDI, VAS, etc.) of current accounts while completing audits to ensure continued compliance.
  • Monitors daily EDI performances, analyzes complex datasets, troubleshoots issues and resolve in a timely manner.
  • Manages the vendor compliance violations (chargebacks) process and identify opportunities to improve performance.
  • Maintains catalogs via OpenText GSX/InterTrade. Understands the catalog structure and compliance requirements as it pertains to optics, apparel, footwear and accessories product categories.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or relevant field
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with EDI compliance
  • Experience with major retailer compliance requirements (including EDI structure) and vendor violation processes
  • Knowledge of EDI requirements, EDI transaction sets (810, 816, 850, 855, 856, 860, 997, UCC128), ANSI x12, EDIFACT, translators and FTP
  • Ability to read and interpret raw EDI files as it applies to SAP
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision
  • Able to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines; demonstrates logical analysis and problem solving skills
  • Inquisitive and innovative approach to problem solving and capitalizing on opportunities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Access and Excel (macros, pivots, lookups, etc.).
  • Exceptional solution delivery skills, attention to detail, and a proven ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
