The Engineer- Product (Product Development) will be responsible for the development of bringing to life the designs that will lead innovation in new eyewear at Oakley.



  • Manage all aspects of the mechanical/technical development of new eyewear models
  • Responsible for the mechanical engineering, material selection, tool and process design, technical drawings, and PLM.
  • Lead multiple project schedule coordination and tracking within a fast paced product development environment.
  • Participate and may lead cross functional team through new product introduction process from sketch to mass production.
  • Communicate project status to department manager and applicable departments.
  • Initiate continuous improvement and cost reduction programs.
  • Provide innovative solutions to overall industry challenges resulting in occasional patent grants.
  • Limited travel to international factories.



  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or relevant discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with ability to interface effectively with others at all levels of the organization, ranging from senior vice presidents to product assembly teams.
  • Well versed in Injection-molded component design and processing.
  • Understanding of metal component manufacturing techniques.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, Kaizen, 6-Sigma, JIT, Set-up Reduction, etc
  • Knowledge of FMEA, DFM and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Proficient in at least one CAD software package (Solidworks/ProE/Rhino/Alias)
  • Proficient in 2D drafting ANSI/ASME standards, best practices, dimensioning & tolerancing, GD&T.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Project.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate and listen effectively at all levels.
  • Self-motivated with high sense of urgency, resourcefulness and adaptability.
  • Strong customer orientation. Team work spirit and continuous improvement mind set.



  • Previous project management experience.
  • Hands on experience with metal fabrication or machine shop experience
  • Proficient in SAP
  • Proficiency and prior use of tools like DOE, CpK, MSA
  • Understanding of product cost composition/structure
  • Photoshop/illustrator experience
  • Eyewear or action sports retail sales experience
  • Bilingual: English + Spanish/Mandarin/Italian
