The Maintenance Tech 3 (Controls Specialist) provides technical support in maintaining Oakley's manufacturing equipment. Supports new automation initiatives within the plant through the design and development of new HMI/PLC controls for new processing equipment and supports improvement initiatives on existing systems. Supports Engineers and tech support technicians by assisting in trouble shooting equipment problems and lend technical support for automated manufacturing processes, and robotics. Update and maintain the existing SCADA system. Repair electronic components and controls.



  • Troubleshoot and lend technical support for automated manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Assess available options for technology and equipment throughout various areas of manufacturing operations.
  • Plan facility improvements for effective equipment utilization and product processing.
  • Support lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and participate in continuous improvement projects.
  • Participate on project teams as required.
  • Maintain hardware documentation for all automation equipment.
  • Develop new programs, modify or edit existing programs for PLCs and HMI's.
  • Maintain and control current back up programs for all control processors and HMI's for the plant.
  • Serve as a LAN administrator and/or provide back-up support.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and repair manufacturing and test equipment.
  • Assists the Lead technician with trouble-shooting and repairing systems.
  • Develop engineering solutions to improve quality of product, increase uptime, and prevent similar failure modes.
  • Initiate, coordinate, and execute projects that improve safety, quality, productivity, delivery and cost.
  • Documents all repairs and work on a daily basis, understands and utilizes the information collected to identify areas for improvement.
  • Works safely and maintains a safe, organized and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as needed.



  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge and experience preferred
  • 3+ years programming/troubleshooting experience with PLC automation (Allen Bradley/Siemens) and related controls.
  • Knowledge of PLC systems and Systems Control Technologies, including in depth knowledge of Siemens, RSLogix, RSLinx, RSView, DeviceNet, Ethernet, and other network based I/O systems
  • Proficient in programming and modification of new and existing PLC's and HMI's
  • Experience with 120V-220V and 3 phase 480VAC experience
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics to determine methods and sequences of assembly.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks with minimal supervision
  • Team player with a "can do" attitude
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Motivated, self-starter, analytical skills, interpersonal communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Good understanding of computers



  • Minimum 5 years of Electrical experience
  • Allen Bradley/Rockwell Software knowledge
  • Multi-Axis Robotics knowledge (Yumi, Sepro, Yushin, Denso, etc)
  • Injection Molding Experience
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)
  • SAP or any CMMS experience
