GENERAL FUNCTION

Develops the tactical and strategic objectives and drives the overall Paint department activities. Lead Production Supervisors and Process Engineers to achieve production goals. Drives change by leading Continuous Improvement projects and implanting a LEAN manufacturing culture.

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead entire Paint/Graphics group: Production, Planning, Process Engineering, Technical Support, Quality
  • Plans production operations, schedules and sequences for manufacturing products.
  • Create/Maintain a cohesive team
  • Provide leadership, technical guidance and training/mentorship to ensure staff competency in paint activities and tasks with contributing responsibilities for product quality.
  • Provide guidance and establish methods that will promote good communications, objective thinking and teamwork within department
  • Drive team towards achieving daily/weekly/monthly goals
  • Track daily/weekly/monthly KPI: Safety, Quality/Scrap, NPI, Service, Efficiency, Volume/Productivity
  • Track equipment availability, and work with support groups to achieving uptime goals
  • Reviews production and operating reports and directs the resolution of operational, manufacturing and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Provides guidance to the development of manufacturing process plan, including personnel requirements, material needs, subcontract requirements, facility needs, and tooling and equipment needs.
  • Develops, recommends and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
  • Plans and administers budgets; makes budgetary recommendations on capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor.
  • Leads cross functional teams: Product, IDZ, APQP/Quality, Supply Chain and Engineering
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Utilizes lean and/or continuous improvement tools to improve manufacturing processes – drive change
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Identify roadblocks impacting department and address with a clear action plan
  • Organization of material flow through each process
  • 6S: Implementation/Sustain

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or equivalent. 
  • 8+ years of experience in Manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems. (SAP strongly preferred)
  • Exceptional proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Must be able to communicate at a professional level both verbally and written
  • Experience in a high volume, fast-paced and multiple shift environment
  • Proven track record of driving LEAN and CI initiatives with measurable positive results
  • Self-motivated individual, able to achieve high impact in an unstructured environment.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced degree
  • Paint Process and Manufacturing experience is HIGHLY desired
  • Lean and/or Continuous Improvement skills, certification strongly preferred
  • Bilingual – Spanish
