GENERAL FUNCTION

The Lean Six Sigma Director leads and coordinates the efforts of the central labs to approach problems and opportunities in a structured methodology, helping to translate the shop floor view and KPI to the management financial impact on the plant/network.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates projects and activities related to manufacturing continuous improvement/Lean manufacturing.
  • Defines a system to rank the projects priorities and methodology to approach (PDCA-DMAIC).
  • Plans and executes (directly or with third party support) the needed training to deploy the execution of the projects to each facility/department.
  • Defines plan to create a pipeline of WHITE/YELLOW/GREEN/BLACK belt candidates with target projects/saving related to each level.
  • Defines and implements a dashboard to monitor the status and advancement of the projects and works with finance to certify the savings achieved and the impact on the plant KPIs.
  • Defines annual plan strategic pillars and deploys activities and training in the facilities to achieve the improvement desired.
  • Standardizes and shares best practices; creates a cooperative environment where each lab sharing needs and findings.
  • Supports sharing of resources between the facilities to support standardization and creates possible career evolution.
  • Defines KPI for the training of hourly associates, monitors critical positions and defines specific actions to reduce turnover/reduce mistakes in key positions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in mechanical or industrial engineering or supply chain (sciences, engineering, or related fields)
  • Six Sigma black belt or master black belt certification
  • 10+ years of continuous improvement, with particular experience in Lean (CI) deployments and leadership alignment and direction-setting
  • Broad cross-functional leadership with experience interacting across several functional disciplines
  • Demonstrated success driving effective change and improvements across the organization
  • 5+ years developing partnerships across the broader operation and supply chain, including vendors and customers
  • Superior problem solving and analytical skills (both quantitative and qualitative)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Advanced interpersonal skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively and maintain credibility across all levels in the business
  • Demonstrated passion for statistical tools, solving problems and operational excellence on multiple projects
  • Experience with project management, with expertise in managing a full project portfolio
  • Constraint-based (bottleneck) skills and experience
  • Able to achieve high impact in a fluid, unstructured environment
  • Ability to influence and get results in the absence of direct control
  • Challenging actual status and procedures

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced degree
  • Financial management for non financial managers
  • Operational (line and/or general) management experience is highly valued
  • Department supervisor or production manager experience
  • Budget definition and forecast activity experience
