GENERAL FUNCTION

The Director of Operations & Communication has leadership responsibility for corporate initiatives, strategic sales initiatives and key project leadership – leading coordination of these activities and ensuring strong execution in stores to drive company results. The role sets the vision and manages all communications to the Field. It keeps abreast of the competitive marketplace and customer feedback, drives activities to improve results in store and is responsible for developing a team of direct reports. 

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership: 

  • Define, coordinate and lead implementation of strategic decisions with executive team by benchmarking, evaluating, testing and recommending best practices that align with corporate business building strategies.
  • Develop Corporate Communication strategy to Field – including materials, cadence, timing, tone of voice, etc.
  • Benchmark with retail, non- retail establishments while incorporating customer input/feedback and apply learning’s to drive results/initiatives in store.
  • Develop the strategic direction for improvement to store services to increase service, customer loyalty and profits to the stores. 

Retail Best Practice Leadership:

  • Lead the development and delivery of key corporate initiatives
  • Lead and effectively work development projects with cross-functional team throughout the organization
  • Lead teams to overcome obstacles through flexibility in leadership style, effective negotiation and quick and clear decision making. 
  • Stay abreast of existing capabilities through regular store visits, field communication, focus groups and operational analysis.  

Project Creation and Management:

  • Lead and deliver project work plans that include deliverable time lines, identify needed resources and provide accurate estimate costs. 
  • Apply knowledge and experience to evaluate alternative solutions to drive positive project outcomes.
  • Oversee direction and ensure execution of plan.

Coach and Develop Store Operations Support Team:

  • Identify strengths and development needs within the Operations team. 
  • Create action steps to ensure ongoing team development. 
  • Partner with team to set challenging goals for personal and team performance. Recognize and celebrate quality achievements.

 

 BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 10 years supervisory and leadership experience in multi-unit retail environment
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Visionary/Strategic minded
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of retail environment
  • Critical thinking/Analytical skills
  • Ability to influence/negotiate
  • Ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously
