The Director Planning Assortment Execution drives strategy and delivery of product plans to maximize sales and profit. Optimizes inventory investment to achieve service level goals. Drives execution of merchandising strategies that maximize sales, margin, inventory turnover and customer satisfaction while leading and inspiring the Optics and Apparel planning to achieve maximum results.



  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop and communicate a comprehensive strategy that aligns future financial and product opportunities.
  • Partners and influences product teams to ensure that the needs of retail are met ideally within the inline product assortment and that long term strategies are created and implemented.
  • Develops strategic Brand sales plan targets in collaboration with Product, Store Planning, Marketing and Finance.
  • Ensures pricing and promotional strategies support financial objectives.
  • Oversees the creation of pre-season assortment plans and in-season product reorders.
  • Optimizes markdown & discount spend to drive margin and protect brand equity.
  • Governs delivery of margin through close management of margin metrics; brand mix and average selling price.
  • Develops inventory plans to support sales while maximizing productivity of working capital.
  • Sets monthly Brand inventory targets to drive sales and support global working capital strategy.
  • Governs delivery of inventory plans through management of assortment targets.
  • Determines purchase order quantities for new product launches and reorders.
  • Sets strategic service level targets in alignment with global Production Planning team to deliver sales & inventory plan.
  • Provides product analytics and insights to drive sales.
  • Partners with Merchandise Business Process Operations team on center of excellence services; Segmentation, Store Brand Facings allocation.



  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 12+ years’ work experience in retail planning, buying or merchandising
  • Proficient computer skills - Excel, merchandising and planning systems
  • Finance and accounting principles - ability to communicate financial plans and results from a merchandise perspective
  • Strong analytical - ability to extract conclusions from available data
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Travel required visiting existing stores, new store openings, and cross-functioning offices
