The Sr. Accountant – Indirect Tax performs the accounting, forecasting, analyzing, and internal reporting of balance sheet and select income statement accounts for business compliance activities including sales/use taxes, personal property taxes, unclaimed property reporting and other miscellaneous business compliance activities in a shared service environment which supports all retail, wholesale, and distribution entities.



  • Perform monthly account reconciliation for cash and credit card store deposit receivable accounts.
  • Perform month-end closing activities in accordance with GAAP/IFRS. Reviews and ensures accuracy of all G/L account reconciliations within required deadlines.
  • Perform traditional accounting activies such as forecasting, analyzing and reporting of balance sheets & income statements.
  • Manage multiple tax compliance packages with outside tax preparer service providers with significant financial impact while abiding by all internal and external controls.
  • Provide multiple tax discipline expertise to brand/corporate initiatives analytical support and ad hoc projects for management and other departments within the company.
  • Identify tax and accounting risk issues, thinks strategically, adds perspective, and recommends solutions while focusing on tax minimization with integrity.
  • Analyze data and compares multiple variables while making sound business decisions.
  • Demonstrate proficient knowledge and utilization of systems and software within area of responsibility.
  • Challenge the process and Independently identify innovative ways to improve accuracy, efficiency, and overall governance. Implement approved plans.
  • Effectively manage personal time and effort to achieve departmental and organizational goals and deadlines.
  • Assume additional responsibilities and assist with special projects as needed or directed.



  • Bachelors degree in Accounting
  • 3-5 plus years of experience in Accounting
  • Proven tax accounting experience with working knowledge of GAAP
  • Thorough understanding and practical application of accounting principles
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills
  • Ability to adapt to change including shifting and competing priorities
  • Solid organizational and multi-tasking skills with particular attention to details and deadlines
  • Makes sound business decisions and acts with integrity
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience with SAP and Vertex a plus
  • Demonstrates willingness and ability to be a self-starter, taking the initiative to solve problems and pursue business opportunities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
