The Product Engineer is responsible for coordinating and managing New Product Introduction schedules to qualify, validate, and integrate new lens products, including lens treatments, into Luxottica’s manufacturing network by testing system software, processes, and product quality for alignment and compliance to company and industry standards.



  • Manages testing and results for the qualification and validation of New Product Introductions to ensure all aspects of performance, producibility and quality are achieved and documented.
  • Understands connection and compatibility of operating system software, processes, equipment, and product. Trouble shoot and resolve issues arising from changes or upgrades to equipment software and operating infrastructure.
  • Manages technical interface with product vendors, lens sourcing, IT, quality and manufacturing on integration, pre-launch, and post launch requirements.
  • Provides input to Director, Product Engineering for new product launches to ensure that unique product characteristics are identified, along with measurement systems and requirements.
  • Develops standardize test plans and methods for evaluating new products and improving existing products. Capable of evaluating data with statistical tools, evaluating risk, making recommendations, and implementing change.
  • Performs process capability analysis and implement process control procedures.
  • Creates appropriate process documentation and training tools.
  • Develops measurement tools and metrology methods to improve product quality and monitoring.
  • Develops and manage project timelines, assess technical feasibility of project options, and execute implementation plans.
  • Leads or supports root cause investigations on product quality issues and manufacturing complaints, and recommend corrective and preventative actions.
  • Provides technical input to support process changes.
  • Conducts investigations and tests pertaining to the development of new manufacturing methods, materials or processes, and investigate possible applications of results.
  • Other duties as required.



  • S. in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial) or equivalent engineering discipline.
  • 2-4 years of Manufacturing/Process Engineering experience in a Manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to trouble shoot and resolve compatibility issues between processes, equipment, and operating systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize solutions to a broad range of problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proven track record of individual accomplishment, contribution and team based success.
  • Experience in a high volume, multiple shift, manufacturing environment.
  • Developed computer skills in MS Office, MS Project or equivalent, Minitab or equivalent statistical package, and operations system software.
  • Strong statistical skills, problem solving and data analysis.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate and listen effectively at all levels.
  • Self-motivated with high sense of urgency, resourcefulness and adaptability.
  • Clear documentation skills.
  • Ability to meet travel schedule up to 25%
