GENERAL FUNCTION

The Director HR acts a strategic partner within a highly complex and matrixed vertically integrated (design to distribution) high-growth organization. Defines, drives and embeds HR strategy within the business to add value and provide professional HR guidance to an extensive goal-oriented organization (Marketing, Planning, Strategy, Finance and all Back-Office Functions). The Director HR is an integral member of a cross functional HR team, collaborating closely with Talent Acquisition, Talent Development and Communications.

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partners with the executive team to build talent strategy by helping leaders to identify, prioritize, and build organizational capabilities, behaviors, structures, and processes.
  • Operates as an HRBP and coach/consultant to leaders to achieve business strategy.
  • Own workforce planning, succession planning and organizational design for included populations.
  • Builds alignment and consensus to move HR strategy/projects forward. Translates recommendations into action plans.
  • Develops and promotes feedback mechanisms for employees and managers to influence continuous improvement of HR services and processes.
  • Actively identifies and seeks to resolve drivers of employee turnover
  • Advocates for initiatives that will positively impact the employee population. 
  • Manages delivery and improvement of key HR initiatives: Onboarding, Performance Management, Compensation Planning, Talent Management, Succession Planning, Budgeting and Forecasting.
  • Supports line managers to identify the organizational requirements needed to sustain a high performing organization and to develop a strong talent pipeline (internally and externally).
  • Partners with Talent Acquisition and Talent Development to provide organizational insights into talent needs/gaps; focusing on initiatives that will retain high potential talent.
  • Provides expert counsel, advice and coaching to managers and employees when appropriate and advises leadership on all employee relations and performance management matters (conflict resolution, complaints and critical investigations) in order to move toward resolution.
  • Supports employee populations in both our NYC and Port Washington, NY offices.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of experience in Human Resources Management
  • Must think strategically to connect the dots and navigate the organization
  • Possess strong business acumen and clear, comprehensive understanding of the link between HR and business strategy.
  • Agile, flexible learner who adapts quickly in a dynamic entrepreneurial environment.
  • Action oriented and proactive in driving initiatives/projects forward.
  • Aptitude to engage, inspire, and influence at all levels including senior leadership.
  • Expert knowledge of HR policies and processes (e.g., workforce planning and talent management)
  • Flexibility between our NYC and Port Washington, NY offices is required
  • Travel 10 – 15%
